The Simple Way to Use a CASTOR OIL PACK
WHAT IS IT?
Castor oil has been used therapeutically for centuries to reduce inflammation, support detoxification, and promote digestive motility. This seed contains large amounts of ricinoleic acid, which is an omega-9 fatty acid with laxative properties. Applying an external castor oil pack is a gentle way to promote detoxification by stimulating bowel movements, particularly if constipated.
YOU NEED
cold- or expeller-pressed castor oil (hexane-free)
1/4 yard wool or cotton flannel, cut into 4 pieces (or an old flannel sheet, cut into 12-in squares)
hot water bottle or heating pad
plastic bag
towel
HOW TO
1. Fill hot water bottle with hot tap water (not boiling).
2. Lay on a comfortable surface. Do not wear anything you do not want stained with oil.
3. Drizzle a few tablespoons of castor oil on your stomach and gently smooth over your skin.
4. Place a square of flannel over the oil, followed by the plastic bag, hot water bottle, and towel.
5. Leave pack for about 1 hour. Then remove, throw away flannel, and shower to remove the residual oil. Some people soak & reuse the flannel, but that can be messy.
6. Repeat up to 3 times weekly.
NOTE: do not use every day; when pregnant; or if you already have regular bowel movements.
